Boel Nelson is a tenure-track assistant professor in systems-level security at the Programming Languages and Theory of Computation section at the Department of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen. Boel’s research focuses on privacy, and bridges areas such as algorithms, cryptography, networks, programming languages and systems. She is also interested in human and legal aspects of privacy. After graduating with a PhD on the topic of differential privacy from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, in 2021, Boel worked as a postdoc at Aarhus University and at University of Copenhagen. In the Logic and Semantics group at Aarhus University, Boel was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow that led her MSCA funded project “Provable Privacy for Metadata”. In the Algorithms and Complexity section at University of Copenhagen, Boel worked as a postdoc focusing on algorithmic aspects of differential privacy. From 2024–2025, Boel was a tenure-track assistant professor in cybersecurity in the Division of Computing Science at Uppsala University, Sweden.
