Artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, quantum technologies, advanced sensors, and secure digital infrastructures will become foundational elements of future defence and security capabilities. However, technological sovereignty is about more than access to technology. It is about the ability to develop, understand, validate, and continuously improve it. This session brings together leading researchers to discuss the technologies expected to have the greatest impact on European security in the coming decade. The panel will also explore the unique role universities play as engines of deep-tech innovation and as catalysts for new ventures, industrial capabilities, and strategic technologies. Particular attention will be given to how research can be translated into practical applications that strengthen both defence readiness and economic competitiveness.

About: The session draws lines back to the project From Intelligence to Enterprise – an initiative between Industry Foundation, the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (DDIS) and Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
