The changing security environment is challenging the way innovation is organised. Defence and security challenges can no longer be addressed by individual organisations operating in isolation. Instead, they require a significantly closer partnership between public authorities, research institutions, and industry. This session explores how Triple Helix collaboration models can accelerate innovation while simultaneously strengthening Denmark’s competitiveness and resilience. Drawing on experiences from academia, emergency preparedness, and industry, the discussion will examine how organisations can work more agilely, reduce the distance between operational needs and technological development, and create new opportunities for Danish businesses. Beyond technology itself, the session focuses on the leadership approaches, organisational structures, and collaborative frameworks needed to bring innovation into practice.

The session draws lines back to the project From Intelligence to Enterprise – an initiative between Industry Foundation, the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (DDIS) and Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The project aims to investigate learning and impact on how Denmark can turn world-class research, innovation, and scalable business solutions into operational security needs, through a stronger collaboration between authorities, universities, and industry.
