Industry has woken up to humanoid robots, and the reasons are surprisingly varied. At one company, the robots are meant to keep laboratories free of bacteria. At another, they are meant to protect employees from toxic fumes or hot air. Søren Peter Johansen of the Danish Technological Institute is currently seeing unusual demand from many parts of industry. He explains what is driving it, where the technology really stands today, and what it takes to move humanoid robots from demo to deployment. He is joined on stage by an industrial company, who will share how they are working with humanoid robots themselves.
