Profile Martin Brynskov, PhD (CS), Senior Researcher at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) where he leads the DTU Connecting Communities Centre focusing on connected communities, interoperability and ecosystems in the context of data spaces and local digital twins. He is also Founding Director and Tech Lead of Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC), a Brussels-based global network of cities acting as a voice of the needs of citizens and their communities towards Big Tech and regulators, promoting the so-called Minimal Interoperability Mechanisms (MIMs). Based at DTU Compute, he leads a number of projects, including the CitCom.ai TEF (40m€), the European Testing and Experimentation Facility for AI and Robotics for Smart Cities and Communities, DS4SSCC, the European Data Space for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (1m€), CommuniCity (5m€), which runs 100 AI pilots to learn with minorities and disadvantaged communities, and is engaged in the New European Bauhaus lighthouse project “Desire – an irresistible circular society” (5m€) as lead of communication and engagement, the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities as part of the NetZeroCities support platform, and the Preparatory actions of the AI-on-Demand Platform (Pre-PAI). Dr Brynskov chairs the Danish Standards Committee on Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities (ISO/TC 268 mirror committee), co-chairs the EU Task Group on standards for Local Digital Twins and represents Denmark in the United Nations standards work for IoT and Smart Cities and Communities at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T/SG 20). In the past he has led the large-scale pilot efforts OrganiCity and SynchroniCity, led the European Roadmap for IoT Rresearch, Innovation and Deployment 2021-27 (NGIoT )and has been part of the evolving fields of Urban Interaction Design and Media Architecture, being the research lead for the FET-Open project UrbanIxD, and chairing the Media Architecture Biennale twice (2012 and 2014). Dr Brynskov is a thinker, speaker, educator and facilitator, working globally from his base in Copenhagen, Denmark. |
