Olaya Álvarez-Tuñón is a researcher in Computer Vision and Deep Learning with a focus on Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (VSLAM). She holds a PhD from Aarhus University (Marie Curie ITN REMARO), where she developed AI-driven methods for underwater localization by combining geometry and deep learning. Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at ITU Copenhagen and Robotics & AI Developer at EIVA A/S, she works on the DeepODO project, advancing real-time underwater robot navigation. Her research focuses on machine learning, computer vision, and underwater robotics, with emphasis on fusing geometric reasoning with learning-based models.
