Ketil Stølen (b. 1957) is Professor at the University of Oslo. He holds a Cand Scient degree from the University of Oslo and a PhD from the University of Manchester. Both degrees are in computer science. Stølen was Chief Scientist at SINTEF from 1999 until 2023. At SINTEF he led a research group on risk assessment with special emphasis on security, risk modelling and the assessment of threats. Before that he was three years at the Institute of Energy Technology, five years at the Technical University of Munich and four years at the University of Manchester. He also has a background from the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment. Stølen has been involved in numerous research projects, in Norway as well as internationally, and often in a leading role. His field of interest is wide, and he has published extensively. This has resulted in more than 100 research papers and five books.
