Public sector IT projects are notorious for running over budget and schedule, yet some projects succeed in meeting these goals. Through an in-depth analysis of 30 large IT projects in the Danish public sector, we identified four distinct patterns of success in projects that adhered to budget and schedule. Our findings demonstrate that there are multiple ways to effectively organize and manage IT projects.
