Name
Drones Swarms for a Safe and Secure Society
Description

How can we develop drone swarms for a safer and more secure society? critical infrastructure security and search & rescue missions. Addressing the limitations of the traditional one-pilot-one-drone model, this work leverages artificial intelligence to enable the control of multiple drones, covering larger areas more efficiently. This scalability introduces complexity that exceeds human operators' capacity without advanced interface support. I discuss the design challenges and insights from developing interfaces that facilitate effective drone swarm control, aiming to enhance operational outcomes in critical missions. In our work, we have built interactive prototypes and then conducted evaluations with the experts shaping the features for effective drone-swarm user interfaces reducing cognitive load and supporting faster decision-making.
