Bjerva is an associate professor at AAU, whose research focuses on multilingual Natural Language Processing (NLP) and is characterised by an interdisciplinary view drawing on linguistics. He is a PI on several prestigious grants, including a Carlsberg Foundation - Semper Ardens: Accelerate. His current efforts deal with large language models (LLMs), their applications in education, and their (lack of) security. Bjerva is a member of The Young Academy under the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.
