Herbert Saurugg from Austria is an internationally recognised expert on blackout and crisis preparedness and president of the Society for Crisis Preparedness (GfKV). Since 2011, the former career officer has been working on the systemic vulnerabilities of critical infrastructures and society, with a focus on the European electricity supply system and coping with a possible blackout. He is co-developer of the crisis simulation »Neustart«.
